    • That much I understood from the lyrics, but I haven't grasped the fuller meaning which would be found offensive. That's what I'm really looking for. Can you explain this?

    • It describes the defeat of Catholic Irish forces by Protestant invaders because of this association it is offensive and confratational to most of the 4 million Irish citizens on the island of Ireland.

    • Ah. OK. Along similar lines, I've always wondered if the British had ever found "The Star Spangled Banner" offensive. Anyway, thanks for explaining, I don't think I could have gotten the cultural implications otherwise. :)

    • Haha, the English should find 'Oh Flower of Scotland' offensive too. It's our national anthem, and I would if I was them!
