Should parents be held responsible for their children's behavior?

    To a point, yes. But beyond a certain point, when a parent has done all s/he can regarding a child's behavior, then no they can't be responsible for everything. Sometimes good parents who have done their best to raise children right still have to deal with antisocial and/or immoral behavior. I wouldn't blame Jeffrey Dahmer's parents for his disgusting acts, nor would I blame the Son of Sam's parents for his, for example (especially because the parents of the latter cried when they heard the news).

    I don't have children but I can recognize that there are some things that are beyond a parent's control. However, of course I do believe that parents have a responsibility to teach their children good morals, to respect others, etc. It certainly IS annoying when a small child is being bratty in public yet the parent does NOTHING - it shows a lack of respect for others.
