Why can't catholics eat meat on Fridays , during lent

    1 Corinthians 6:12-13

    12All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

    13Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

    • the problem with your "scripture" and always using it is that there are NUMEROUS interpretations ... don't be daft

    • This scripture is taken out of context. Jesus is teaching about sexual purity and in verse 13 he was doing what he so often did, use a metaphore because not everyone understands and learns in the same way. there is not a scripture in the Bible that says to not eat meat, other wise ALL Christian sects would observe this practice as well.

      "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and DOCTRINES OF DEVILS; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; FORBIDDING TO MARRY, and commanding to abstain from meats..." (1st Timothy 4:1-3).

      yeah, those doctrines are from the devils.. and so is forbidding your priests not to marry..
