Interesting question. In my opinion, when you're dead, you're dead. Nothing can keep that from being true.
The memory of your life can live on in those around you. I don't think you should be living your life JUST to create memories for those around you (i.e. don't just live for others, but for yourself as well), but it would be good to consider what kinds of memories you are creating when you make decisions as to which course of action to take.
Can a spouse determine funeral arrangements if he or she is separated from the deceased?
