Why do they pay most female athletes get paid less than male athletes.

    Because far more people are interested in seeing and supporting male sport - compare attendances, TV money, sponsorship etc for the finals in male and female sport - and because the standard is higher. Almost all world records in sports are higher for males, and a top male team/athlete would almost certainly beat a top female team/athlete. The best male and female soccer or baseball players in the world are in effect not doing the same job ergo they are not paid the same.
