Animal rights first - health reasons second. Both important, though.

curious, what about the plants rights it was once living too

In my opinion, plants lack emotion - animals do not. :o)

fair enough,
what would you do if they could?
by Darth 5349U11 on March 27th, 2008
Yikes...I have no idea. There would virtually be nothing much I could eat!
by Teasdale on March 27th, 2008
Don't worry plants don't have emotions. So you may walk across your lawn confident in the knowledge that it is not the same thing as stepping on kittens or puppies.

Thank you. I feel better now. :o-)

Why do so many people believe that objects without brains are capable of feeling pain? Do they also believe that objects without eyes are capable of sight? I guess some people are not that bright.

personally i just like asking hypothetical questions
by Darth 5349U11 on February 28th, 2009
Alright, sorry. I know that I can be a bit abrasive, but I don't understand why people frequently ask questions that should be obvious. I've had dogs and trees. I've seen ample proof that dogs are capable of forming social bonds, being excited, scared, happy .... I have yet to see any proof that plants are capable of those things. Moreover, even if plants can feel pain, we would be abusing them less by eating plants directly. Far fewer plants must be consumed by eating them directly instead of feeding them to an animal then consuming the edible parts of the animal.
