• I finally borrowed the money and flew to Sweden to visit with my estranged older son. You might recall he had a severe stroke three years ago, and then he took a bad fall in August and broke his leg. I visited on his birthday to cheer him up.
  
  It turns out that since the stroke he doesn't remember any of the circumstances that caused him to turn his back on his family. He has lost his memory of nearly all the 15 years since he left. I was so thrilled to see him again, and so sad that he didn't know why he has been estranged from us all these years.
