Why do some people suggest a 20% tip for fancier restaurants? The waiter is already getting a larger amount because the bill is larger, for no more work than s/he'd do at a less fancy restaurant.

    Well, if the service is excellent I tip 20% no matter what type of restaurant I'm in. Higher menu prices = higher tips. That's just the way it works (or should).

    • I'm with you. My mother was a waitress and I think that is shy i almost alwats tip 20%% unless the service is poor.
