If kids suck their thumbs at an early age, are they more likely to bite their nails when they grow older?

    There is no way to tell if thumb sucking will lead to nail biting - however - a bigger problem to consider is the fact that prolonged thumb sucking will warp the line of the top teeth and very possibly cause a curved over bite. Many parents now think it is better for a child to suck their thumb than to have a pacifier - but the fact still remains, when the child gets too old to have that habit - you can take away the pacifier...you can't take away the thumb!

    • I suck my thumb and have all the dental affects mentioned here. So what. It feels good and it's totally worth the benefits I get from a legal habit.
