When calling a girl on the telephone for the first time, what are some good topics to get the ball rolling?

    Well, this totally depends on the person but here are some ideas:

    *) Types of movies / music that you both like. Have either of you been to any great concerts recently? Waited in line to see a movie that turned out to be a bomb? etc.. Share stories.
    *) Is she into any sports?
    *) What her family's like? Any Brothers / Sisters etc..?
    *) If you go to the same school/college, mention some upcoming events
    *) Summer's coming up - do either of you have vacation plans?
    etc..

    You get the idea. The most important thing is to be sure to express interest in things that she likes. Be funny, be courteous.. but most importantly just be yourself. She'll respect that.
