Christians, does the Great Commission (Matt 28:18-20) still apply and still matter today? This is a follow up of my first question.

You really should be saying, "a book written by men, believed by many to be God's truth".
by Don Gorgeous George on October 22nd, 2008
The Bible is inspired -- God divinely influenced the men to write the scriptures. 1 Corinthians 2:12-13; 2 Timothy 3:16-17. To millions, it is indeed God's truth.

Scriptures were still written by men, regardless of weather or not they felt inspired by a divine source. This same phenomenon has been going on with mankind long before the old testament was ever written. People have had many different systems of living spiritually. Islam, Christianity, and Judaism are fairly new to man when you look at the big picture. Tomorrow, it will be something different.

Once again you are mixing apples with oranges and historical fact with theory. To begin with, you should re-read the question. It asked for an OPINION. Did you catch that? O-P-I-N-I-O-N. Secondly, if I wanted to debate this with an atheist I would go and pick an opponent like AR or TheicidalManiac; in short, someone who clearly knows what they are talking about, and bothers to read the question.
