I see where you're coming from, but how do you give up that privilege if you're too afraid to take advantage of it? How can I ask my lady to ask me to marry her because I'm too afraid? Maybe I'll let her dick around on my answer bag account until she finds this comment. But she'd probably find the thing about Spanish women, and how caffeine effects penis size... Fine, dag-nabit! I'll propose myself!

Indeed. But why discriminate against women if they wish to make the first move?

Dont agree with bunter... nothing wrong with women proposng. Its a lot more dignified than hinting, or sitting around waiting to be asked.

Emmagirl: Read my answer AGAIN. I dont think it says that there is anything WRONG with a woman proposing a man. Just that, as a man, I feel its a "privilege"
Dan: Well, if you see it as a "privilege" only then does it feel like one, doesn't it? There are ways that could help you ask your lady but I think everyone has to work on it. If you mean it, you ought to be a little apprehensive, anxious if not afraid.
Sakha...: I dont think my answer discriminates against women. I think a woman is as good, free and competent at asking a man to marry as the otherway round

I have read your answer bunter, and am not unaware of its literary merit. Nor am I unaware of the inferential meaning of your answer. Your answer basically states your 'opinion' that women should not propose... (There are somethings in life that SHOULD be the way they are...one of them is a man proposing a woman... :) ) I just said that I do not agree with your opinion.
