If I burn a copy of a ps2 game that is scratched, will it work?

  I have a play station 2 disc with a scratch on top, where the drawing is, so my console wont recognize the format or sometimes it gives me a disc read error is there any way to fix this?

  I left a game of mine on pause for about 4 hours and now the game won't work. I looked at the disk and there's a perfect ring burnt into the disc. The game goes to the loading screen but won't load. Is it ruined or can it be fixed?
