I am eligible for federal aid in 2008, you can recieve federal aid you just have to wait a few years. I don't believe you need a license to be a secretary, but I could be wrong.

A paralegal is not a secretary. If yu are talking about a certification then it is hardly a paralegal. Universities have an associates and a bachlors degree in paralegal studies.

so what is someone with felonies who is a reformed single mom of 4 supposed to do. what job or career is there for people with felonies who want a better life for herself and her kids. How do I make a difference.

You have many opportunities, but it limits you to some in law enforcement and others. I know many people that have a great career with felonies. Depending on what the cahrge or conviction was you can still find good jobs.

Thanks Angeleve, just looking back at older comments on my profile.
I am actually attending school to be a paralegal. I am almost complete, and yes, a legal secretary and a paralegal often are interchangeable terms.
Education, experience, or certification is not required to become a paralegal it is at the sole discretion of the supervising attorney (but it is preferred.)
There is no such thing as a license to be a paralegal in New Jersey. The only legal license is an attorney's license which you get once you pass the BAR.
I am employed by a law firm now and they are aware of my record, so Martinez please don't be discouraged :)

Oh, and a federal grant paid for my entire education and provided me with additional living expenses, and supplied my books when I didn't have as much income as I do now.
For the record, my charges were severe and they can not be expunged.
