Should bad people not be considered to be part of the religion they once claimed as their own? For example, most Christians will say that Adolf Hitler was not a Christian even when he said "I am now as before a Catholic and will always remain so," in 1941

Catholics are not true Christians they are two entirely different religions.

    • Catholics are most definitely Christians in that they believe Jesus Christ was God's son sent to earth to die to wash away their sins.

      Also from Wikipedia:
      Beliefs
In spite of important differences of interpretation and opinion, Christians in the Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Protestant and other traditions share a common faith. Although Christianity has always had a significant diversity of belief on controversial issues, most Christians share a common set of doctrines that they hold as essential to their faith.

      Jesus the Christ
As indicated by the name "Christianity," the focus of a Christian's life is a firm belief in Jesus as the Son of God and the Messiah or Christ. The title "Messiah" comes from the Hebrew word מָשִׁיחַ (māšiáħ) meaning anointed one. The Greek translation Χριστός (Christos) is the source of the English word Christ.

So, Catholics are most definitely without a doubt Christians.

    • Speaking as one who was raised Catholic, to American4FreeHealth: Oy vey. I would submit that it's not anyone's place to judge someone else's path, nor worry about their doctrine and ideology.

    • Hey there are alot of people who want to believe in Santa Claus. That doesn't make him real. Though some are still in denial. If what you knew were not true would you want to know or continue to belive the lies.

    • Does that mean you're going to stop believing in Santa Claus and start using logic and testable evidence to base your beliefs on?

    • Its true, Catholics are a different kind of Christian. They believe they are the Only True Christian. Everyone else is heathen. The Protestants believe they are the true Christians. And that the Catholics are going to Hell for worshipping an idol statue. Both groups believe Our Father's name is God. How bizarre is that? Total deception and delusion.

    • Catholics, and the Catholic Church, do not believe that they are the only "True Christian", nor exclude non-Catholics from "salvation".

    • Then why doesnt the clergy invite visitors to their church to participate in the Eucharist?

    • I'd imagine it's because the visitors don't believe in the literal presence of Jesus in the eucharist, and the church believes that you couldn't get much more sacred than the literal presence, and that to knowingly allow people to partake in a less-than-total manner would be something of an affront to God's gift.
