Often in describing art: having two subjects side by side or within proximity in order to highlight a particular aspect of one or both subjects. Picture a balloon resting gently upon the blade of a knife. One could describe that the gentle nature of the balloon is juxtaposed with the harshness of the knife, symbolising yadda yadda yadda.
Within music, having an strong, rhythmic beat juxtaposed with sweet, high throated warbling. You get the idea.
