Question

Help answer this question below.

I have a Ghost DOS boot CD that works in every PC but mine. It boots (A:), but can't detect my DVD drive to assign it a drive letter. Ergo, I can't access D:. But only in DOS. What's preventing my drive from being detected by the standard DOS drivers?

This is almost surely a problem with your BIOS. The BIOS comes with the motherboard of your computer, it's possible that you can upgrade it. You can check the BIOS version and manufacturer by carefully observing the boot messages, but you'll have to crack the case to get the manufacturer and model of your motherboard. From there it's on to Google to find an updated BIOS, and then you need some heart medication for the process of the update.

So if you really, really need this boot disk, it may be possible. Otherwise, I would just let it go...
