I suppose your referencing the commonly accepted myth that smoking marijuana kills brain cells. This myth was born when Reagan commissioned a scientific study to analyse the effects of marijuana on rhesus monkeys and thereby show the effects on our own brains. The monkeys were administered an equivalent of 30 joints per day and at the end of the 30 day trial were killed and their brains were examined. The MJ monkeys showed significant brain damage while the monkeys who didn't have marijuana administered to them did not show it.
Reagan got the full report, and we got this abreviated version. But what they left out is KEY. The pot smoking monkeys were administered their 30 joints per day over a 5 minute period when they were force fed the smoke using gas masks. For 5 minutes they received ZERO oxygen, only cannabis smoke, resulting in 5 minutes of asphyxiation every day. OF COURSE THEY HAD BRAIN DAMAGE.
We have had many "scientific studies" proving the damaging effects of cannabis use, each of them shortly after are debunked. The truth is that an estimated 440,000 people die in the U.S. every year from smoking cigarettes. An estimated 85,000 in the U.S. every year from alcohol. And there are 0 deaths related to marijuana, anywhere in the world, ever in time.

Actually, atramentaility I was making a joke. If a person feels uncomfortable about an activity they are engaged in and that activity is supposed to be recreation, then maybe they should just stop engaging in the activity.
