yes it is excrutiating pain from the first cut to the last. the entire process is painful. when i was 16 i cut both my wrists. i even cut it the right way truly hoping for death to fall upon my bloodless body, but it did not. the pain was so morbid that i had to scream i had to cry, there was truly no way i could keep quiet. after i lost conciousness my neighbor found me and saved my life. i woke up one more time then i had planned to and i am so greatful for that. i will never forget the pain that streamed through my body during and after the tears to my flesh. i am still recovering from this giant mistake i almost did and the pain i put on the people around me makes me wish for forgivness everyday. all i know is that at that point when you are willing to take your life, you are so low that you cannot see yourself causing others pain by dying but you can see them having pain from your living and you want to take that away for them. it is an experience i would not wish on anyone, not even my worst enemy.

i think your answer is stupid, "all i know is that at that point when you are willing to take your life, you are so low that you cannot see yourself causing others pain by dying but you can see them having pain from your living and you want to take that away for them. it is an experience i would not wish on anyone, not even my worst enemy."
how are you low when the people around you make you feel so bad, that you want to kill yourself?
how are you so low if that is truely the only way you believe, will allow you to reach peace?

If you think that answer is stupid, then you've obviously never experienced or known anyone who has experienced depression.
And if you have known someone who experienced depression, you probably worsened their condition by telling them they were stupid for thinking like that.
When you're depressed, you CAN'T HELP thinking like that. It's not that people around you make you feel so bad you want to die, it's that you see yourself as causing THEM so much pain that you can't stand it anymore. When that's the case, it seems to you like everything you do only hurts yourself and/or others, and the only way to stop that cycle is to, well, not be around anymore. To kill yourself.
Go read a little about depression, then see which of these comments is stupid.

tora... I do not care for anon's comment (personaly I think anons should be banned.) but not all people who want to die want such due to chemical imbalances. finances and my (now ex) wife made life so horrible that for 5 years there was not a month where if I did not believe in an afterlife which I would be screwing up I wouldn't have killed myself. within a month of her leaving my desire for death was gone because I could see a brighter future. I had no chemical changes (aside from being a human guinnea pig for a cancer drug for one month). it is possible for people or outside issues to make someone want to die, chemistry is not the only reason to want to die.
