Never did it but I can tell you two things about it.

    1. When you purchase it you automatically go on an FBI list.

    2. This stuff is advertised as an alternate to pot since both are hallucinogens. It is nothing like weed and it is far more dangerous. There have been cases of people dieing on salvia and no cases recorded of people dieing of weed.

    • LOL! You can't possibly have meant that. Show me your source of information that "an alternate to pot since both are hallucinogens"

That is just SO wrong there's no way I can take the rest of your "answer" even remotely serious.

    • sheesh...there must be some new generation out there that never bothered to look up the word hallucinogen. THC is in no way, shape, or form a hallucinogen. That's as silly as saying you can get stoned by drinking really good beer.

    • THC is in the hallucinigen category. Don't believe me? Not for nothing, but why don't you people research what you do before you do it? Giving me a negative score because you didn't do your research. Kind of fucked up, seriously. It is a mild hallucinigen. Just because you don't want it to be doesn't mean it isn't. Grow up and stop looking for excuses to get high. Get high if you want to, but know what you are getting yourself into.

    • Oh, and any hightimes magazine sells it as as alternate to pot. They call it Legal Marijuana. Jeesh.

Didn't mean to put it as an answer. Here ya go.

And next time, before you call anyone a liar, research your information. The internet is a fabulous resource.

    • I know what salvia is. And I know what weed is. I didn't ask for research and I didn't ask to be disrespected in an answer. I am very familiar with both substances, this topic is conversational, not educational.

    • khemical, I apologize if I sounded disrespectful, I didn't mean too. But Borderlinux was very disrespectful to me in the way that he called me a liar without doing his research. Obviously he doesn't know what he is talking about.

I do want you to read this from Hightimes Mag. This is probably one of the best resourses for drugs around. Just take this into consideration if you ever think about doing salvia again.

    • Back in the sixties the average THC level in smoked marijuana was 6%. Now it's over 98%. It can now be classified as a mild hallucinigenic. I went to a meeting and one of the narcotics unit chief policemen were there and they even classified it as hallucinigenic.

    • Police lie. The amount of THC determines dosage. The more THC the less material required for smoking.
And it is definitely not over 98%. Hashish is barely 30% and it's much more potent than regular marijuana.

Also no one has died because of salvia overdose. If people die because of things they did while on salvia that's their fault for not having a sitter. Not to sound harsh but we legit psychonauts grow tired of recreational users wading too far in the waters.

    • I guess it might have a different effect on different people. I know When I smoked some really potent bud once it totally bugged me out. I was seeing colorful dots floating around everywhere. Very mild hallucinations though. Nothing big.

    • Oh yeah man, one of my first times smoking marijuana I totally bugged out. I thought my heart was beating at incredible speeds and that I was about to die and had an out of body experience. Altering your consciousness in any way can lead to "trippy" things. See ritualistic dance, etc.

    • That's exactly how I felt. It was the most unbelievable experience of my life. I felt like I completely understood the entire universe and it all made sense. There were so many thoughts racing through my mind. And my body kept pulsing in and out. I thought I was going to die.

    • I keep posting comments that are too long, so I will put it in in sections:

nike, are you sure the pot wasn't laced with something? I know at a free Jefferson Starship concert in central park a while back i took a hit off a guys joint that my bf passed me and i started freaking out. i coundn't stay in the spot i was in and had to 'GO' until i found my spot which was a tree. After some deductive reasoning from those who has experienced more drugs then I, we concluded that the joint was laced with angel dust.

    • though you could have experienced just some really intense weed.

Daneca, I believe in being educated on anything that you put in your body. With the internet it is very easy nowadays, and to not do so is irresponsible. And there are way too many youngin's, who have been lied to about other drugs (like pot) that will go too far, or even visit at all, then they should. Responsible education from parents and 'authorities' is what will keep out kids off the hard stuff.

    • Right on. You sound like a pretty cool mom haha.
But I digress, I didn't mean to imply that salvia was completely without harm. In my view it should only be used by those who sincerely want to explore the mind. Not for recreational use for sure.

    • Daneca, I didn't think you were under-exaggerating the effects of salvia, at all. And I understand what you are saying about having a babysitter.
      ~
I try to be a cool mom. I don't think enough parents are correctly educated on drugs (following the crap propaganda dispersed by the gov) and they rely on what the schools teach the kids. I tell my son to 'yes' the health teachers to death but that I am telling him the proper truth. I don't reveal my past experiences with him though. I don't think he needs to know that.

      FaerieWhings

by FaerieWhings on February 22nd, 2008

    • To answer your question FaerieWhings, I don't think the pot was laced with anything. I didn't buy it pre-rolled into a blunt or joint. I just bought two-dime bags of straight bud and rolled it myself. There were no detectable foreign substences in it to my knowlege. The guy I bought it from told me to be carefull. To quote him exactly he said "be careful, this stuff is one hit shit".

      nike15

      by nike15 on February 22nd, 2008

    • Yeah, most stuff would be easy to detect as long as it wasn't pre-rolled. Most of the really bad stuff has a very distinct plastic/oil smell.

      Daneca

by Daneca on February 22nd, 2008

    • Would it look powdery or what? Could you detect most of it through looking at it rather than smell?

      nike15

      by nike15 on February 22nd, 2008

    • haha how do you go on an FBI list? Like they ask your name at the local head shop... nonsense.

and nike15 - It looks kinda like tea. Fine black bits. Smells like tea too.

    • FBI list? you better be trolling.. This is total BS

since when was pot a hullucinogen? lmao

Lastly i'd love to know where you got the idea that people have died from salvia. If you are referring to the one suicide, i'm more likely to think that it's a bit of a coincidence seeing as it was 3 months later, and it's one person out of the god knows how many who smoke it regularly. If it was that dangerous it would be illegal.

    • You don't know what you are talikng about. It is NOT dangerous and is even used as an anti-depressent. It IS a psycho-active drug and has mild haluciatory affects but will NOT kill you. The one death that was related to this drug was not proved to kill him, he also has other problems that were far more pervasive than smoking Salvia. Get you facts straight.
