There are certainly a lot of variables involved here that make this a difficult question to answer such as which religion, which denomination, which individuals are involved, etc. All in all, I'm not personally a big fan of organized religion, but I recognize that this may have more to do with certain personality traits of mine than with organized religion in general, and it may simply be that organized religion is not for everyone.

Some people like a structured religious experience where they know what to expect, what to believe, and who to go to for more information. I also recognize that many religions do a lot of wonderful work around the globe that typically requires a good degree of organization (though this is not limited to religious-focused groups).

My primary issue with organized religion is when individuals give over their freedom of choice to religious leaders instead of questioning each dictate carefully and thoughtfully. A lot of atrocities have been committed because individuals went along with the group, doing things that they probably would not have done individually. In many religions, free thought is looked down upon, and that can be a problem. However, this group-think is also not restricted to religious groups, nor do many practicioners behave in that manner.
