You can't convince anyone of anything that they don't want to believe. If I am dead set on believing that the sky is green there is nothing you can do to force me to change my belief if I don't want to.

However, if you must try actions work much better than lectures. If people see by your actions that your belief in God has helped you they are more likely to respond than if you preach to someone who has no interest in what you are saying.

I will give you an example with a slighly different concept although basically the same.

I have often talked about the fact that I am bipolar on this site. My mother also has emotional problems and for years I tried to convince her to get some help. She always yes yesed me but never did anything. However now two things have changed she is desperate enough to want help and she sees how much therapy and medication has helped me and she is now under the care of a psychiatrist and therapist.

You see for someone to change their they have to be open to changing it.

    • Darren is working with the subconscious. Since I don't know how to do that I still stay that I can't convince anyone of anything they don't want to be convinced about.

    • You've changed "You" to "I" now.

    • Yes I realized that. Because I don't know if "you" know how to work w/ the subconscious

    • I disagree. I've found that if you want to convince a non-believer of something all you have to do is show some proof. Most atheists base their lives around reason and rationality, if you can show a reasonable rational explanation on how you can prove god exists we'd seriously consider converting. However in 6 thousand years, I have yet to see even the smallest shred of scientifically testable evidence, for ANY god, not just the biblical one.
