You're reading What must you do as a Latter Day Saint to have the gift of salvation?
Comments
Brigham Young, 2nd Prophet & President of the Mormon Church, successor to Joseph Smith, stated the following: "From the day that the Priesthood was taken from the earth to the winding-up scene of all things, every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, junior, as a passport to their entrance into the mansion where God and Christ are--I with you and you with me. I cannot go there without his consent." (Journal of Discourses, Brigham Young, October 9, 1859, page 289)
You better inform the church that Brigham Young was lieing on this day then.

It makes me laugh when people quote something Brigham Young said, as "proof" that Mormons believe it. Brigham Young said a LOT of pretty wacky things that never were, and never became, doctrine of the church. He had a lot of funny opnions that were never church doctrine. Thankfully, doctrine is established ONLY through the unified voice of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles -- anything else is just one man's opinion and not the belief of the entire church.

What now wasn't Brigham Young the Prophet? And wasn't Bruce R. Mcconkie an Apostle, you see the issue here? What you just said..

your right but never did they say anything against Christ's teachings.

I believe what Latter Day Satans is saying is that, in our opinion, the LDS Prophet and Apostles have created LDS doctrine that have either contradicted the Bible or have contradicted previous teachings of the LDS church itself. In both cases, if it was from God, means God is contradicting himself.
-
For example...
-
Doctrine of Salvation by Grace Alone Through Faith. LDS doctrine contradicts this.
-
Doctrine of Polygamy in the LDS Church's earlier years is no longer considered doctrine.
Doctrine of Black Males not being able to hold the priesthood is no longer considered doctrine.

John,
Mormons to believe that salvation is through grace alone. We differentiate between salvation and exaltation though and we believe that exaltation requires some effort on our part.
The other two you listed are examples of practices, not doctrine. Practices in the LDS church change all the time.

This is proof that LDS member are brainwashed...you can't think for yourself.

Thanks....It's funny only Mormons are criticizing me, and calling me names....hhmmmmmmmmm.......sounds like Christianity to me lol....I love it!
I don't really care what you think, I am still going to send the message of the LDS is the most false religion on the earth today...and they have the most incorrect book on earth. :) how do you like that!

Latter...I'm not a mormon and I think you are just trying to cause a fight. That is what you are looking for isn't it?
by Grammy Robin on January 10th, 2008
no I'm looking for some solid answers and haven't got them yet.
by Weird Science on January 18th, 2008
well and it's fun to show them what's in the LDS church's history that has been packed away....I just dust it off and remind everyone what the foundation of the church is.
by Weird Science on January 18th, 2008
But what if you believe everyone has the right to believe as they will.
Isn't that what is really most important....to believe?
Won't they have to answer to God himeself at the end?
by Grammy Robin on January 18th, 2008
The important thing to remember is that Christianity and Mormonism do have some differences on almost every fundamental doctrine to Christianity.
-
Peter tells to us to "always be prepared to give a reason for the hope that lies within us..." but to do it "with gentleness and respect..."
-
If we discuss these differences with out presuppositions and use the Bible AND do it with gentleness and respect, then we are doing God's work. Let the Holy Spirit take care of the rest.
