When it comes to plastic scale model kits, I've experienced great things from Hasegawa ( planes and helicopters ) and Tamiya ( military and automotive ). If you are just starting out in modelling, these are sure-hits as far as accuracy and ease of construction and minimal faults in the molding. Some of the lesser quality makers like Revell-Monogram, Academy and Italeri leave a lot to be desired. Sometimes body panels don't connect well, leaving you with unsightly gaps if left untreated.

For quality with die-cast prebuilt display model cars, whether racing or not, I feel hands-down the best out there is Minichamps and UT. And to a lesser extent Maesto and Burrago, and rounding out the bottom is Hot Wheels. Of course with higher quality comes high premiums, so it depends on what you are looking for and how much you are willing to spend.

    • You get what you pay for; that's why I spend the extra $$$ for Tamiya
