I do, and I think if it continues to get any sillier and the questions AB'ers come up with get any more insipid and subjective/personal, that AB's original purpose will go down hill. When people come here to see what questions are asked and how they are answered, they might just go to Yahoo or elsewhere.

Everyone, especially those in the higher rank levels, know damned well that they can "pepper the board" with alot of questions that are totally of no consequence to the masses, but they will gather points for them, either by the question or in a spin off answer. Seriously, look at some of the questions AB people have asked in the past week or days! Some of them are very close to the kinds of questions we (when I was here) saw and didn't like answering, or thought were a bunch of kids playing around because they were so insignificant. "Who has the coolest hair as a actor?" "Who is the sexiest guy on TV today?" Chitt like that. And the people who ask those questions are people strangers to this site are supposed to trust with serious questions about love, abortion, pregnancy, health, suicide, death and feelings about others topics?

Do as you all wish, but I am going to look again, (just for a laugh) at what AB staff states is the purpose of AB. I am sure they won't censor anyone unless they are terribly inappropriate or abusive in their questions. But I also think they aspired to a little higher level of questions, and did not want the whole rank system to be for many, an excuse to think up and post any question that pops into their mind to get points. And we all know what kinds of questions they are.

I truly like many of you! I just don't like what some are doing with AB to wile away the hours or "move up in the ranks." It doesn't honor the intelligence and knowledge I know many of you obviously have, for one thing.

Have fun with your non social, non banter.

    Goodbye, again.

"Answerbag's goal is to help people find and share knowledge, and to help them help each other. So, to get good answers, you'll want to write a good question!

Questions should be clear, concise, and should ask for a specific response or piece of information. Usually a shorter question gets better answers - if your question is long or has too much personal detail, other people won't want to read it, or they'll get confused by the irrelevant details.

Important: we may already have your answer! Use our search to look for answers, so you don't have to wait for a new answer. We remove duplicate questions from the site, so it helps keep the site clean and organized if you don't post duplicate questions in the first place.

We do allow fun, social questions like "What do you look like?", but we recommend that you keep these to a minimum so you don't annoy users looking for real, helpful information. :)"

Guess yur idea of minimum may = maximum to me.

    • Ah, but you can't leave! It is the people like you who make AB what it is supposed to be! You came up really fast in the leaderboards and, even more, the people who got to know you will miss you. I know they can have many senseless questions, but the more good users that are trying to help leave, the worse it will get! Just think about that. Only you can choose your way.

    • Thanks superpanda, but I am vastly outnumbered it seems, and if what I do is being undermined by those who come for fun and to socialize and ask themselves really stupid and personal questions of the others who are the "regulars," I think it is just not something in which I want to be involved. People come here who are merely bored at work, and they are not concentrating on AB or work both very well I am sure. Sometime when they are busy typing or replying, someone will ask a really serious question, and it will scroll by them. And it could end up not being seen in time to help or save that person from something very, very bad. And that is something I would not want on my conscience. Keep doing a good job, or do as you wish here. I thank you for your comment. I really appreciate it.

    • But if you do leave, then you will just be letting those people win. Some of the people here are just here to do harm, and no good. If you go to the leaderboard, you may see there are many pages of not so well known members, and possibly trolls. That is what some of these people are, trolls. If you leave, worse yet you will be another memorable member that is here to help- GONE. I like to see the people that are here for the soul purpose of answerbag, to help and keep it clean. Plus, if you think that answerbag is bad, then take a look at Yahoo! Answers. It may seem good to me because I have had experience with that site. It is a really poor run site, and like the bowels of answerbag. There is no substitute on the internet capable of beating answerbag at cleanliness and well-meaning of answers. Stay for the minority, to make it bigger.

    • sp: Again, thanks for the nice comments. Some of what you say makes sense. I would never go to Yahoo. I would help in my own town where I have before and where I it was no competition of ranks & we surely were not sitting around making up questions an 8-10 year old would ask. I am staying for awhile, but I doubt I'll stay. My hope that the AB staff would improve or monitor things by adding simple but effective features, (Stableboy & 1-2 others mentioned them in an answer about improving AB) so trolls and AB users could not manipulate things, post stupid questions & change numbers (& AB could add those features easily!) is gone. Likewise, some of the people I thought were mature intellectually & emotionally if not age wise, & into helping others versus chasing ranks and just chit chatting with each other, has diminished. I agree some very good questions & answers are on here. But as I said before, while many play games from work & because they are bored, how many SERIOUS questions go missed until it is too late to help them? It's not worth missing one of those to me, because the screen scrolls with stupid crap.

    • You do have some good points. I never knew someone could have two accounts that were doing so well! Well, I am just glad that you decided to have the Painful Ginsu account, and help even more. I would miss you if you leave, but it is your chioce, of course. More smart people equals a better answerbag! Is that why you have two accounts?

    • JOG is gone and will post no more. Painful Ginsu will be around to see what happens, mostly due to your kind comments. I don't want to play this up any more than it already has been. We'll see what happens, OK?
