Intellectually... because if you examine every single thing in nature, from the cells in our bodies to the molecular makeup of a blade of grass, to planets revolving in perpetual motion around suns, to rivers and oceans and ecosystems, to (OMG) our brains & hearts & circulatory systems!.... if you really look at it, the precision and intent and design and purpose are all so mind-bogglingly intelligent until it becomes mystical.

I cannot Not believe that all things of this world were designed, intended and created by someone. Since any One of those awesome, magical things, down to the most minute atomic structure, is completely beyond my intelligence, I don't worry so much about my inability to grasp the nature of that "someone" or to see the whole picture. Of Course I can't grasp it when I can't even grasp a tiny little pixel of it! haha.

That's the gap that faith bridges. & that's what faith is for, bridging that gap. Faith is not a hollow concept either. Faith is sustained by a personal relationship with God that falls under the "ineffable" category. It cannot really be explained in words. You either know about it or you don't, I suppose. I would never try to explain that to someone who didn't already know about it. That would just be folly. But suffice it to say that you know you have that relationship about as well as you know your own face in the mirror. It's not something that has to be proven to you. You just know.

Sorry if I'm not articulate enough to tackle this question. I don't know what I was thinking... bored I guess. Have a good evening!

    • McClister has no frame of reference for par. 3. so that's not going to help him. Besides, you can't really have this conversation with someone who doesn't see intelligence in "science." McClister can look for answers & a million people can give him their answers, but in the end he's on his own on this one. --- Anyway, is there any reason why we can't all just have different opinions? Is there some reason that we all must agree about it? If McClister cannot feel God in the way that I do, I'm sure that there's a reason for that & I'm willing to bet that neither one of us is a freak, we're just having very different experiences for some reason. Personally, every time I see him working through this question, my 1st gut reaction is to pity him for not being able to have God to lean on, to carry him through hard times, but maybe he's never had any really hard times (isn't that when we all get to know God best) & if that's the case, I should be envying him! :)

    • hahahaha good answer? how on EARTH is that a good answer?
he pretty much just said that he believes in God because it explains the scientific phenomena we live with. well, cavallerizza, how do you know God is the reason for all of that? cause some book told you so?
think about it...which sounds more reasonable to you:
a supernatural being that snapped his fingers and trilions of galaxies appeared, or the idea that things were simpler than they were now at some point in time, and just evolved to become more advanced based on the enviornments they lived around?

    • who said God just snapped his fingers and trillions of galaxies existed? it is not God's fault if everything he creates and his methods are scrutinized and analyzed incorrectly! the creation process has taken and is still taking up to now what seems to be millions if not billions of years. he continues this process even as we speak. the fact that we don't know nor understand does not mean he is not to be credited for his spectacular works. his holy Word the bible attests to this as well as science.
cavalleriza, "out of the mouths of babes" is the saying. God does not give his spiritual insight to intellectuals or the wise of the world. rather he searches the heart. these are the ones that are able to understand his wisdom.(1corinthians 1:26-31)i too am not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to explaining creation, but from everything i have studied and researched both in the bible and what science is proving, you have to want to be blind to not admit the existence of the Creator and his spectacular works. you deserve commendation instead of criticism. never shy away from speaking about your convictions, even though there will be others that will not agree with you. again you gave a terrific and very accurate answer! for more information go to www.watchtower.org or www.jw.org
