In the long scheme of things, we have been on this planet a very short time. The pandemic flu
virus of 1918 wiped out a third of the world's population. We have increased the population 3 times since. Nature might take a corrective action. Stephen Hawkings has postulated that our future as a human race is in colonizing an other planet. We have not done a very good job here. Our nature is to explore and exploit the easy resources. Right now, there are no good planets avaialable to us. We have a choice. Figure out a way to make this planet work for us or devise "warp" speed propulsion. We know that the "flux capacitor" doesn't work. The only output was time shifts that made no sense even to Isaac Asimov and caused Carl Sagan to have a heart attack.
