Should my husband keep photos of him with ex girlfriends? I think he should as they are still part of his life and I am happy to keep them and don't feel threatened by them. What are your views?

I personally think it's kind of him to want to get rid of them (for your sake?). Before my husband (fiance at the time) moved in with me, I went through all my old photos and mementos. I put everything that had to do with an ex in a box, and deposited it in my parents' basement. I kept them in case I have children, as I remember when I was a teenager I wanted to see photos of my mother's ex boyfriends, but she'd destroyed them.

I feel photos like that have no place in a couple's home, and have been very hurt to discover my husband keeps his around. We've moved several times, and when packing he could easily have removed them and stored them with a parent or friend if he couldn't throw them away. He knows how I feel, but keeps them around anyway. It poisons the feeling of sweetness of the home we share.

My mother had a similar experience when unpacking at the first home she shared with my father. When she discovered old love letters from his past girlfriends, she sent them floating down a river--she had burned all of her own, to signify that her future is with my dad. My husband has a foul temper and I wouldn't dare do that, but I feel his photo stash creates a wall between us.
