All of my life I have heard people say "that is mighty white of you", what is the meaning of this phrase?

    It's like saying, "that's magnanimous of you." However, it's a racist expression. The idea is that only a white person could be magnanimous. It's also used sarcastically, to mean the exact opposite.

    • I've heard negroes say it (rarely) to one another, not meaning any sarcasm in the least.
      But that was decades ago, before the word "ni**er" became a racist term. Before "racist" was a word.
