Can the Pope be anathematized?

    It's hard to see how, since such an action would require the approval of the Pope himself. It would require the removal of a sitting Pope and the appointment of a new one. I Googled all over trying to find out how the Cardinals would go about unseating a Pope and have found nothing that helps.

    • A pope can be anathematized by an Ecumenical Council. The 6th Ecumenical Council anathematized Pope Honorius of Rome.
