Why do Americans call what I would describe as 'jelly', 'jello'? Is there a specific reason?

    Yes. Jelly is something that we put on toast. Jello is a gelatin dessert.

    • You're welcome. Yes, exactly. Jelly and jam are the product of boiling fruit and sugar. Also called preserves, I think.
