Aluminum is a good conductor. But it's not as good as copper. Aluminum tends to heat up and expand in response to lower amperages than copper. It is more likely to work its way out of connectors.

    • Actually, aluminum is a better conductor than copper.  See the answer that I will soon post.

    • Bob Blaylock's response is based on a technicality. You're correct for practical purposes

    • Who cares whether it's a good conductor in a laboratory? I prefer the practical answer.

    • No technicality at all.  Aluminum *IS* a better conductor than copper.

    • this anon is blowing smoke. aluminum pacivates just like copper meaning that ONLY the surface oxidizes and the oxides for both are great insulators (but just a couple molecules thick of insulation is neglegable) electricity travels in the interior. aluminum is about 60% as conductive as copper. until you start talking rediculously specific materials such as graphene conducting across it's plane (as opposed to between planes) copper is the best conductor
