Yes they do. Binocular vision, where the field of view of each eye ovelaps , or each eye can see an object at the same time, is the way they and we can tell how far away something is. That is especially useful to predators. Eyes that are closer together or more to the front of the face give more binocular vision, owls especially have the eyes on the front,. Animals that are more likely to be preyed on have the eyes farther apart and more on the sides of the head, they have a narrow area of binocular vision to the front, but can see a wider area to the sides, above and even behind so they can spot that predator sneaking up.
Birds of prey also have what could be called telscopic vision. A falcon can see a small rodent from 3 kilometers, two miles, away. That is about the the same as if a person could read a newspaper about 25 meters, nearly 30 yards.

(05-19-05,nmj)- To expand just a bit on grunt's comment, obviously having vision has nothing to do with actual flight, but without binocular, or "stereo-vision", birds would be flying into things all the time. It's even more important when it comes time to land and judging the distance to the ground or a perch. I should have added that ALL birds have binocular vision, not just birds of prey. Non-predators usually have a narrower field of binocular vision directly ahead, but even a pigeon needs to know how far away a seed is for an effective peck.

    • Great answer. Something that's pretty obvious once explained, though I'd never heard.

    • Correct, but I would add that all birds that can fly have binocular vision. Flight would not be possible without it.
