The RCC is a "Cult" hiding the Truth of the Scriptures & Substituting it with church (man made) Dogma in an attempt to maintain Control & Power ($$$) over the Ignorant members of the RCC. Baptists believe in the Un-errant Word of God having Split as many have from False Religions. They are known for the Scriptural Immersion type of Baptism upon Salvation & "Long Alter Calls" (singing sad songs of Repentance until someone breaks down & "walks the aisle to Forgiveness"). They Will Lead U to Christ, but are "Very Simplistic" in their Teaching which can be good for a new Believer. John

    • Let's have a look at some "ignorant" Catholics of history: Gutenberg, Pasteur, Ampere, Marconi, Tim Russert, Tony Snow. And let's not forget the most "ignorant" Catholic of modern times -- Mother Theresa.
      .
You display either anti-Catholic bigotry, and a lack of Christian charity.

    • Wow. You really don't know anything about either denomination, do you?

    • U got me Scottie!!! I was only born & raised into catholicism becoming an "Alter Boy" (Not Altered, too fast for papa)until I met my Savior Jesus Christ while attending a friends Southern Baptist worship service. Having founded 3 Southern Baptist Churches in my lifetime I'm sure I don't know what I'm talking about. John

    • Aldebaran, I'm sure U may look up to those mentioned & that's ok, but Scripture says "ALL HAVE SINNED & COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD" & "UR WORKS ARE AS WOOD,HAY & STUBBLE THAT WHEN TESTED BY GODS FIRE ARE CONSUMED" OR "UR WORKS ARE AS FILTHY RAGS (MENSTRUAL RAGS)", so forgive me if I say they are Ignorant as does the Scriptures. That list would also include Ur current Papa who says the catholic cult is the only way to Heaven, again Ignorant of Scripture as Christ says "I am the Way, the Truth & the Light, no man enters unto the Father but by Me!" • Did I say that these learned men never sinned?
      .
Your personal, fallible interpretation of Scripture is of no concern to me in specific, and I assure you that it is equally meaningless to the Catholic Church where it differs with Catholic doctrine in faith and morals.
      .
You think that you know something about Catholicism based on what? Poor catechetics following Vatican-II? Based on some opinions of a man-established church with no teaching authority (Matt 18, Luke 10) -- (i.e. Baptist Church est. by John Smyth in the 16th century)? Maybe you also consult Jack Chick for "official" teaching about the Catholic Church?
      .
All I can say is "Congratulations". You say you are a self-appointed scripture scholar and you say you are a self-appointed expert on the Catholic Church. I hear you.
      .
I say there's an old maxim: Nobody hates the Catholic Church more than a lapsed Catholic -- just look at Hitler and Stalin. Keep proving the maxim true.

    • Well stated Aldebaran! The catholic cult has NEVER followed Scripture only their own Dogma which I'm glad U point out as EVER CHANGING (Vatican II). Too bad God DOESN'T CHANGE, didn't Papa send Him the "Memo"??? Lets see, yes, the first Sin was the Arrogance of Satan just like the catholic cult thinking that they are the ONLY "Franchise" God has issued??? Scripture clearly shows that the Jews thought this way too & God then went to the "Gentile Nations" because of the Jews Arrogance. Peter (the catholics claim to fame) even WARNS his "Successors" (in I Peter 5:3)AGAINST "Lording it over Gods flock, rather than showing themselves Examples to the flock.". Peter himself was never a "Bishop of Rome", nor did he ever claim for himself such Authority! So all Us Po "Protester" Folk have just as much "Authority" (or MORE) as any Papa who ever donned a "Dress" & sat on his "Throne" twisting Scripture, as "OUR AUTHORITY IS SCRIPTURE"!!! Tell all the "Altered Boys" not to hold a "Grudge"!!! John

    • More oracular words of wisdom from a self-appointed expert on the Catholic Church... Of course, if this oracle would have bothered to read any of the documents from Vatican II, he would know that not one of them clarified any dogma -- it was a Pastoral Council. But then again, when Catholics ignore 1 Tim 3:15, Matt 18 and Luke 10 and try to do Christianity from the Bible alone, these errors are bound to manifest themselves time and time again.
      .
Oh, by the way, what did the Christians use as their authority in the 1st century? No one knew for sure what books were inspired. How about the 2nd? The 3rd? In the 4th century we have a Canon of Scripture, but by then the Church had its 37th POPE (Pope St. Damasus). The Bible alone novelty didn't appear until the 16th century -- after the Church had its 218th POPE.
      .
History has it that Iosef Dzhugashvili was an altar boy too. He displayed hatred and vitriol towards Catholicism and Catholics due to one mishap.
      .
      You are in my prayers.

    • Well, they Didn't use the "Pseudo-Isidorian Decretals" a book that appeared about 857, as did Nicholas I!!! A book containing documents purporting to be Letters & Decrees of Bishops & Councils of the 2nd. & 2rd. centuries, all tending to exalt the power of the Papa. These were Deliberate Forgeries & Corruptions of Ancient Historical Documents, but their Spurious Character was not discovered until centuries later. Whether Nicolas knew them to be Forgeries,at least he Lied in stating that they had been kept in the archives of the Roman church from ancient times! But they served their purpose, in stamping the Claims of the Medieval Priesthood with the "Authority of Antiquity". And so "The Papacy", which was the Growth of Several Centuries, was made to appear as something "Complete & Unchangeable from the very Beginning". The object was to "Ante-Date" by "Five Centuries" the "Papas Temporal Power". This was the most Colossal Literary Fraud in History!!! Is this the 2nd. Mishap??? John

    • The question was "what did the Christians use as their authority in the 1st century? No one know for sure what books were inspired..." I did not ask what books did they NOT use. They didn't use "Gone with the Wind" or "The Iliad and The Odyssey" either.
      .
Can you put aside your emotions about the Catholic Church for one question and simply answer my questions?

    • AREN'T WE ALL AS CHRISTIANS SUPPOSED TO BE BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN CHRIST??? WHY ALL THE FIGHTING AND HATRED ALL THE TIME??? IF CHRIST WERE HERE IN THE FLESH AMOUNG US RIGHT NOW, DO YOU THINK HE WOULD APPROVE OF THIS BEHAVIOR AMOUNG THE BRETHREN....CERTAINLY NOT!!! ONE NEEDS TO EXAMINE HIS HEART AND MOTIVES BEHIND SUCH BEHAVIOR AND DETERMINE IF HUMAN PRIDE IS HINDERING THE LORD'S TRUE WORK BEING DONE IN YOUR LIFE..PRIDE IS A SIN AND MUST BE DEALT WITH!!!
