Lightning struck near my house last night causing my accidentally plugged in laptop to spark at the place where it was plugged in. the laptop works but refuses to charge. Is this an internal problem or a problem with the power cord?

I plugged my computer into a station that was running 230v power. It will no longer turn on of course. I would like to know what will need to be replaced to repair it. I was thinking it would be the whole power supply, am I correct?

You're reading I have just connected a usb external dvd burner to a pc running Windows Me. When I shut down the PC, it stays is a suspended state unless I unplug or remove the USB dvd burner. How do I workaround this without always removing the dvd
