    Science Vs Religion and Realality
The Ganges River, although being an important link to Hindu Spirituality (60,000 bathe per day on average) is on the same stretch of over 30 sewers FACT!
Tests in 2002/3 show the water as having 1.5 million faecal bacteria per 100ml of water, in safe bathing water it should be no more than 500ml!... The choice is yours.
But on the other side there is belief!!! If you believe in your God and beileve in the Holy River, then you may experience something very profound if you dare bathe.

    • This is what I have read. Maybe ask for tourists (who are perhaps non-Hindus, because these people will not have as strong a belief to protect them)who have bathed in the Ganges and if they have had any ill effects.
