It's because of the type of oil they use. Different types of oils have different tastes on the food you fry them in. The worse (health effects) an oil is for you, the better the food tastes.
I forget the type they use, but supposedly they were supposed to switch to a more healty oil awhile back? It all had to do with the trans-fat & what-not.
