How do sound waves change as different notes are played? How are different pitches achieved?

    Low notes produce larger and longer sound waves (meaning there is more distance between the crest and trough of each wave). High notes have a much faster pulse than lower notes and shorter sound waves.

    • Spot on. Adding just a little more....each note cycles a certain amount per second. A=440 means the sound wave repeats its self 440 times per second. Higher notes repeat more times and lower notes fewer.
