On my modded Xbox I have an '05' code at the top left hand corner of the screen, and it says to bring it in for customer service. What does that mean?

Basically a 05 error code on an xbox means that you are using an unlocked hard drive in your xbox.

The hard drives used in the xbox require a password to opperate correctly. Moddifying your xbox with a mod chip allows you to use a unlocked hard drive. The 05 error code says that your xbox is not unlocking the hard drive correctly. This could mean a number of things, including but not limited to, incorrect installation of the mod chip, and/or incorrect setup/uage of the mod chip.

More information about all of the xbox error codes can be found here:

    • That pretty much spells it. I have two modded xbox originals and I ran into that with one of the harddrrives. Check that one copper wire that goes to a seemingly random spot on the motherboard, when that comes lose, it can throw that code.

If it never worked, check your flash.
