Do you believe the rapture will happen in this generation? give biblical references please

    Doesn't every generation believe that the rapture is upon them? Even the early Christians thought that the second coming was coming soon. You probably have seen the movies from back in the 60s or 70s, one of which (it's a triology) was called "Thief in the Night". So they were convinced that the rapture was upon them soon. I think the point is that we just can't know when it will happen. That's part of the the point of having faith.

    • while i totally i agree, i had heard that there were bible verses saying that only one generation would pass after the destruction of the temple and other such fairly specific time references. so i was wondering about those types of verses.

    • Great answer, muguet. I completely agree. There are many people out there who really don't understand faith. Sadly many of them are Christians.

    • You're first point is actually more supportive of the view that the rapture isn't real at all - not that it'll happen at some unknown time in the future.

    • Anti is right. The earliest Christians expected Christ's return any time. He didn't. That is a direct rebuttal to, not only belife in the Rapture, but to the entire premise of Christianity.

      This is the Rapture of the Church, and once we’re gone the power of evil will be free from restraint and all Hell will break loose on Earth until the Lord returns at the end of the Great Tribulation to put a stop to it.

      Here then is the sequence. Before the Day of the Lord can come, the antichrist has to be revealed, and before he can be revealed the church has to be raptured. So according to Paul the next prophetic event involving believers will be our own disappearance.
