In addition to SOUND, the doppler effect has been used in radio frequency and X-ray frequency electromagnetic waves. The color on the weather radar is generated by decoding the doppler effect.

Recently, the doppler has been used to detect whether a distant star is revolving toward or away from Earth and even to detect planets around other stars.
