Why do people hate the police so much yet when they need help they are the first people they turn to?

Firstly, I would disagree with your blanket statement that people hate the police, and add the word "some."

I would say these police haters are using double standards or being hypocritical. Some people want to be able to do things that are illegal and not have the police come after them or call them on it. Yet these same people feel that the police should protect them against people and things that are potentially harmful.

Sounds kind of one sided doesn't it? I think most people who are not among those who "hate the police" would agree it is a one sided way of looking at the poice or other authority figures who get paid for, among other things, helping the pubic in general and helping keep them safe.

I agree - and also want to add that a lot of those who 'hate' the police are often young - teenagers. As most people get older and wiser, they stop hating the police and authority because they understand it, the system and how things actually work and what is needed to create a civilised society (in which they too, have their place in the hierarchy).

No I'm a old fart and I hate the police. Just a job for pussy any one can pay 1200 bucks go to a six month academy and get out with a bat belt an a tin bage. The cops arnt shit they bleed just like the rest of us!
