Can oil normally used to heat a home be used in a diesel engine?

    Since asking this question, I've actually filled my diesel powered truck from the same tanks used to fill the oil tanks for our furnace.

    The only difference between home heating oil and diesel is that diesel is a little cleaner. Running heating oil in your truck only means you'll have to clean the injectors more often.

    • You would be much better off to strain the oil first, with a nylon stocking or such as furnace oil is very dirty, gritty and has sediments.

    • stain the oil ,and add "lucas" fuel additive to the fuel...
