Out of all the sins in the Bible, why is homosexuality scapegoated? Other sins aren't "better", so why act like it?

You're reading If homosexuality is such a "going-to-hell-worthy" trait, why didn't Jesus Christ condemn it, specifically?

I assure you, you are correct in that being gay will NOT condemn your son to Hell, at least not being gay in itself. Please let me share one concept with you though leaving your son completely out of it for the moment.
Have you ever told a lie? What does that make you? Have you ever stolen anything no matter how small or little the value, every? If so, what does that make you? How about murder; have you ever murdered somebody? Do you know that God said that if all we do is get so angry with someone that we call them bad names that we commit murder in our hearts? According to God's standards, assuming God of the bible does exist, which then are the only standards that count because He is God and that makes Him in charge, we are all lying, thieving, murderers at heart, and according to God His punishment for those sins alone (again sexual orientation NOT even being considered) is DEATH.
In summary, if what the bible says is true (and there is a 50/50 chance either way), your son, like all the rest of us, was condemned since the day he was born thanks to Adam and Eve. We are all born sinners. It is a generational curse. None of us are good enough to earn our own way into Heaven.
Lucky for us all, God provided a way out, to escape from the punishment we deserve. What is that way out? Jesus Christ said, "I am the way." To be forgiven and saved from the penalty of our sin, the first thing we must do is believe Jesus Christ, God himself, came to earth in the form of a man, lived a perfect and sinless life, that He took the punishment for our sins upon himself, sins including those sins of your son, of you, of I, and of everyone else. Furthermore we must confess with our lips that Jesus is our Lord and Savior. We need to trust in Him that he is able to save us from our sin like we would trust in a parachute if we had to jump from a plane, and we must turn away from our sin, stop doing the very things that offend God, by changing the course of our lives heading in the direction God wants us to head. Then God will set us free from any punishment.
If the Bible is incorrect, if it just a bunch of stories (like my own mother believes), even a bunch of outright lies, well then we have nothing to worry about with this Hell and punishment stuff. If, however, if the bible is true, then when you and your son die, are you not both in serious trouble? What if the Hell of the bible is real - do you want to end up there? How about the Kingdom of God - would you not rather be a part of it for all eternity?
What do I have to gain by sharing information with you? I don't want your money. I don't want you to join a church. I speak as someone who has sinned way probably more than most people including you and your son, but also as someone who has tasted the freedom from the chains of my sin. I pray for you both that you will be set free.
