Help answer this question below.
About 3 years ago, i was afrraid of heights, kept away from the edges and always had someting secure to hold onto. Then because of a friend i took up rock climbing, going up was no problem, but coming down was, i was crying, and freezing up.
But after a while i realised there was nothing to be afraid of, all i learnt was trust in where i was and my body to be able to move me to where i wanted; this helped me conquer my fear and now i am not afected by heights at all.
So my advice . . . take up a sport which involves heights, it will allow you to gain confidence and a new perspective, and alos the people you do the sport with are always friendly, many had the same fear when they started i found with my group!
Hope i have been of help! and sorry it is such a long answer.
