Pomona, the goddess of fruit trees.

Maybe that's why 'pomme' in French is apple?

    • almost certainly as she was a roman goddess and the common Latin word for apple was pomus

    • ooh....well...then that solves it. I learned French...not latin....although it was an option!

    • POmona wasn't the roman goddess of fruit trees... she was the roman goddess of the second harvest during the days of pre christain rome
