ok first things first we will check the cheapest to replace and easiest to test....to check if your are getting a spark take out one of the spark plugs. then attach it to the distributer like you normally would....i..e...the wire.....then ground the tip of it on a metalic piece of your engine block...then have someone crank it...you should see a spark...if you dont see a spark(asuming you have tested all other posibilities)its a bad plug, distributer, or master coil....if you are getting a spark its 70% of the time your timing....you can slightly advance this by turning the distributer to the right or left...though, if it is too far out of timing you will probably need a timing light(if you have never use such a device, i would say to have you take it in to get tested) timing chains are a bear to work with if you are the back yard mechanic. and can give you considerable problems(not only are they no fun to change).thats about as much as i could help you in general terms...if you have more dificulty leave another post and i will do my best to help you out.
