In all honesty you child should learn his toys are a priviledge. THEY didn't buy them/earn them. They are a gift from you. You love them and want them to have good things, but if they cannot obey the rules they cannot have those wonderful priviledges that you want them to have. As an adult, the same goes. If you do good things, you get good things. If you do bad things, you get bad things. In most cases anyways. The burden of responsibility is on them.
