The age for breeding all dogs in general is at least 2 years in order to make sure that your dog is not a puppy itself. You should never breed before the 2nd heat cycle and do not wait past 4 years old--this insures the health of the mother. Of course your vet can tell you what's best for your specific dog.

    • You should wait till the 2nd heat cyle so a pomeranians average heat cycle would be at 1 year...mine however was breed at 6 months..not by choice my male chewed through a gate to get to my female...she did just fine and was very healthy I would not suggest it but when that happens there is a shot you can give them{ sorta like the morning after pill for humans}...however I wouldnt want to do that unless it is necessary for a health reason.there are so many things that can happen if you give them that shot.So a year is a prefered but not mandatiry....all depends on the dog and what you and your vet decide...hope this helps!!!...good luck!!!
