The weather up and down the East Coast of the United States was beautiful. Clear, blue skies with unlimited visibility.

That's why the attacks took place that day.

There wasn't any significance to the date for the hijackers or bin Ladin at all.

In fact, while sitting waiting for his flight to take off, Mohammad Atta placed a final cell phone call to another hijacker on a different plane telling him that the hijackings were " a go." Seems that Atta had seen the weather forcast that day. If the weather hadn't been good, the hijackers would simply have taken the flights all the way out to California. The hijackers had taken the various flights numerous times before, as a way of scoping out the situation and getting a feel for the airplane and what the mood of the passengers and crew would be as well as approximately how many people would be on the flight. Among Mohammad Atta's belongings was a diary of sorts that included a fairly detailed list of steps that the hijackers were to take.

Also, although the hijackers who flew the planes had taken flight lessons, they weren't detailed and were not what would be considered decent pilots, and in cloudy/foggy weather it would have been very difficult for them to see the landmarks on the ground which helped to guide them to their targets. And even that was difficult for the hijacker piloting the plane that hit the Pentagon. Apparently that plane was supposed to hit the White House, but after circling overhead several times and not seeing the building, the pilot headed off to the Pentagon.

    • You sound knowledgeable, but you spelled Osama bin Laden's name wrong. It sounds smart until you look at the spelling.

    • Why believe someone without proof. I have proof the proves this fellow wrong about the east coast weather.
There could have been a significance to the date 9-11 to the Siege of Vienna(1683). Islam has the goal of placing the world under Islamic rule. I'm not making it up. Why else would September 11th be chosen. I noticed that the east coast weather has been very steady for September in 2001. Here is a link to back up my theory for the climate of Central New York for the month of September in the year 2001.

More Theories are proposed by Robert Spencer who is a scholar of Islamic religion.
